BALLET Division - Must be 7 yrs. By September 1, 2023
Our Ballet Division Program consists of a proven, integrated ballet curriculum focusing on the strong classical foundations needed to build and develop a healthy dancer. Required classes in other dance forms are included to diversify skills. Accelerated classes are offered for students who wish to intensify their training schedule. Boys take specialized classes to prepare them for bravura ballet vocabulary; these classes are required for boys in Levels 3-5. Pointe work, which requires physical and technical readiness, is introduced incrementally beginning in Ballet 3.
Children aged 7 and older progress at their own pace from entry level Ballet 1 through Ballet 4. The Ballet Division is open to all interested students; level assignment requires a placement from our faculty. Some accelerated classes require an audition to assess student readiness.
Classes are held September – June. Our curriculum is designed for year-long study, so students must be of age by September 1st, 2023. The age range for Ballet 1X-Ballet 5 is approximate because students progress at their own pace. All students are required to pay a registration fee and spring performance fee (see below for performance information).

Dancers will be approved on an individual basis to begin pointe work. Please do not purchase pointe shoes prior to teacher recommendation. At this time, teacher will advise the dancer regarding choice of shoes and oversee proper fit. Age, strength, proper alignment and maturity are all factors taken into consideration when determining readiness for pointe training.
If a dancer cannot meet requirements in their recommended level, dancer is advised to take a lower level that better suits personal schedule. If your dancer is very active in outside activities (dance team, musicals, sports etc.) in addition to dance, it is likely they will need to make choices. Dancers that cannot meet Pointe requirements may not perform on Pointe in showcase or Ballet Company Performances.
DRESS CODE
Rock West dress codes are established for the dancers safety and aid in the instructors ability to correct and educate students.
Policy will be strongly enforced. Dancers dressed inappropriately will not be permitted to take class.
INSTRUCTOR - STUDENT CONTACT
The Rock School offers teaching that is individual and hands-on. It is normal and appropriate for a member of the faculty to manually and physically position a pupil to expound a point of instruction or to identify some needed technique correction. The School neither condones nor tolerates any touching of students by instructors that is harmful, professionally reckless, or that violates generally accepted tenets of propriety. Before enrolling a student, please consider that it is school policy to correct children with physical contact. If the student or parent/guardian is uncomfortable with this policy, you may wish to reconsider enrolling the student.
